About Ryan Gray

I first got into magic when I was 9 years old and got a big magic set for Christmas. I remember watching the old VHS tape that came with it and practicing in front of the mirror for hours. I also went with my mom to all of the local libraries to search for 793.8, the magic section to find all of the books I could get my hands on. As a teenager I fell in love with card tricks, especially working on sleight of hand.

Toward the end of high school and then going through college and grad school I always kept my interest in magic, but I stopped learning and performing. Why waste time with kid stuff? At the time I just didn't get it. Life to me isn't about just school and work, it's about everything else that adds flavor and joy.

I got my bachelor's degree from BYU in Exercise Science, and then went on to get my DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) degree from the University of Utah in 2016. Currently I work as a physical therapist in St. George, and I love my patients and students that I get to work with.

In 2018 I fell in love with magic again. My wife was pregnant with our third daughter and it was a rollercoaster. With my wife on bedrest in the hospital, and then our baby coming two months early and spending a month in the NICU, I picked up my old magic books and practicing card sleights. I'm not sure if it was a coping mechanism for the stress or exactly what happened, but I was hooked again. Most kids have a magic phase of life where they think it's cool, but I guess I never grew out of it!

I still love playing basketball whenever I am able to, and also love playing and watching other sports. The best part of my life is the time that I am able to spend with my wife and 3 daughters. I love them, and I love this magical journey that we are on together.
